Monday Ponderings

So I get my second fill tomorrow.  I am beyond excited.  I still am in search of that elusive restriction.  I am hoping this fill will be a bit more helpful than the last.

As we tend to do in blog land, I have been reading more and more blogs and I've run across an interesting phenomenon:  Band Vacations (having their bands completely deflated for a period of time).  This has me completely flummoxed.  Why would you want to take a vacation and thus set up possible failure??  To me, the best part of the band is if you want to "cheat" and have something lacking nutritional value, you can, but your band keeps you from over induldging.  I guess there are a few bandsters out there that miss eating in abundance?  I am not judging - I am merely reacting, as I can't imagine myself ever doing this.  I guess I looked at this journey as continuum.  I don't ever want to "go back" - if I never get to eat 4 pieces of pizza again, oh well.  I will gladly settle for one.

I'll report back after my fill tomorrow...until then...

  1. I so agree, I would be so afraid of a band vacation! I need my band, no doubt about it. I wouldn't want to live without it. Life is 1000 times better with it. :)

  2. I'm flummoxed by this idea, too. I would be totally lost without my fill. I hated Bandster Hell! I guess it's kind of a test to see if you could survive without your band, but I have no idea. I wouldn't ever do it! LOL

Good luck with your fill tomorrow!

  3. I've noticed this phenomenon as well. I don't get it either. I put off a fill until after a cruise just because I would be getting it a day before I left. I didn't want to be too tight and stuck on a boat somewhere. But I was grateful for the restriction I had and only gained 1 lb on my vacation thanks to that. It easily could've been more pre-band.

  4. I don't understand that either unless you were preggers or maybe going to a place where there were no band docs to help you in case of emergency. Hi! I'm Joy and I just found your blog. We got banded around the same time, so I am excited to follow you. you are around a month ahead of me, and I'm so glad I stumbled across your blog.
Hope your second fill is not as uncomfortable as your first was! - Joy

  5. Ohh Good luck on your fill! I feel the same way. I don't think I will ever have a total unfil unless I decide to get pregnant. I am perfectly fine the way things are. I ate a piece and a half of pizza with no crust last week and was so full..it was great! A treat without going over board!

  6. I had to get a slight deflate (2 cc's) when I got my tonsillectomy in December. I was able to eat anything for a month (of course I couldn't eat ANYTHING for two weeks after the surgery) and most anything for another month after my first fill. I had to do it, so I don't regret it, but I don't know that I would choose to do it if I hadn't had to. In fact, I got a little frustrated because I have to be the only person on the planet that gained weight after a tonsillectomy!! :)

  7. Good luck with your fill. I know I could not handle it with an empty band, I have a hard enough time when my fill level isn't great, I would loss the plot if I was back at empty :o)
